9554 108A Avenue Northwest, Edmonton
Angsgar Lutheran (1939) is very much a testament to the continuing existence of a Danish community in Edmonton. The building is a frame and stucco structure built according to plans drawn by a Copenhagen architect, but overseen by local architect W.G. Blakey. The very noticeable step design over the entrance and at the side of the gable roof is typical of Danish architecture. The parsonage was built at the same time and a seniors’ home with a Scandinavian flavour, Angsgar Villa, was built in 1978.
