St. Mary’s Anglican Church began its work in the area in 1913 with services in a log hut. The present building was constructed in 1953 and opened in January of 1954. Newspaper descriptions said it was “planned along modern lines” with its glass block, brick and striated wood materials. In 1962 the church was consecrated to mark the final payment on the building debt.
