The Telephone Historical Centre seeks to achieve the acquisition, research, organization, documentation, exhibition and storage of historical materials relating to the telephone in Edmonton and the development of telecommunications technology in general.
The museum opened to the public in Old Strathcona on December 3, 1987 and subsequently moved to its present location in the Prince of Wales Armouries in 2004. The centre is owned and operated by a non-profit charitable organization. It is an accredited member of Museums Alberta. The museum has hands on exhibits that illustrate communications principles and a first class multi-media Historical Telecommunications Theatre Show. The Centre is suitable for tours of up to 20 individuals.
